For the first two years, SOS Refugiados was providing humanitarian aid to refugees in Athens through shipments of supplies from Spain. The supplies were stored in the Elliniko warehouse, loaned by the Greek government to an Athenian group Pampiraiki and to SOS Refugiados. Dozens of containers were sent and in the warehouse the clothes were sorted and daily shipments to squats and camps were prepared.
Elliniko was the origin of the group of 3,000 volunteers at SOS Refugiados. In that place, sorting out supplies, the necessary synergies were created to begin collaboration in the squats and to develop the idea of the need to have our own premises to distribute the material that we took from Spain to Elliniko more directly.
